I left Benton to go to University of Salford to do a degree in Quantity
Surveying. I was taken on by John Laing Construction in my 3rd year
placement and spent the next 17 years with them working on construction
projects all over the north of England including RAF Fylingdales, several
hospitals in Sheffield and Manchester Commonwealth Stadium.
Met and married the gorgeous Diana. More than one person has said "how did
you pull that?" which I choose to take as a compliment! We have two great
kids, Daniel is just finishing a degree at UCLAN in Digital Graphics, and
Sophie is sitting her GCSEs this May.
We lived in Farsley, Pudsey then Rodley, but in 2002 I took a job in the
Isle of Man and we moved over here in May that year. It was a bit of a
gamble at the time but it was definitely worth it, quality of life here is
fantastic. I left a senior position with Laing in the UK for a slightly
backward step with a relatively new company called dandara. I'm now an
associate director and commercial manager for all IoM operations which keeps
me busy.
My Mum and Dad still live in Newlay Grove and we like to get back there at
least one a year. Anybody that remembers my sister Alison, she married Paul
that she was going out with at school and they are living in Rodley with
their two kids.
Looking forward to meeting everybody in 2014 - having seen the pictures ,
name badges are definitely required!
